A leading local businessman told a Palma court on Tuesday morning that municipal police officers had demanded money for not inspecting his business.
The unnamed businessperson was giving evidence in the trial of BCM disco owner, Tolo Cursach, who faces allegations of fraud.
The businessman, who apparently owns a business in one of the holiday resorts, said that officers would arrive and demand a complete inspection of his business. This allegedly happened on numerous occasions; he told the court that this led to his clients leaving. He said that this was when officers demanded a cash payment. The "inspections" would involve a complete "review" of his business.
