The cost of living crisis is hitting the Balearics hard with the price of an average shop rising by a third, according to the consumer association Consubal.
In a statement, the association said Monday that the products that have risen the most in price are sunflower oil (75.17%), eggs (31%) or milk (24%), as well as pasta or rice, with an increase of 14 and 23 percent, respectively.
The consumer association said that many families would be having financial troubles with higher mortgages rates and the cost of the return to school.
Inflation is running at 10 percent in Spain at the moment.
