Palma police were holding the estranged former partner of a woman who was strangled to death along with her seven year old son at their home in Sa Pobla.
The man surrendered himself to police hours after the incident. The woman was said to have been pregnant.
Palma police detectives are investigating the murders and believe that the man, who has allegedly admitted to the crimes, carried out the crimes in a fit of rage.
