The Confederation of Balearic Business Association’s restaurant and hostelry department said yesterday that it is bracing itself for the Tier 4 restrictions on bars and restaurants to remain in place in Majorca until the end of February.
As of last night, bars and restaurants had to close their interiors and during the week, ensure their terraces are closed in time for clients to meet the 10pm curfew.
On Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of fiestas and Bank Holidays, all bars and restaurants will have to close completely at 6pm.
The Ministry of Health announced this afternoon is preparing more restrictions for Christmas.
Given the increase in cases of coronavirus in Spain during the last weeks, not to mention in Majorca, the Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s government will plan new measures for the autonomies to try to stop the infections.
According to documents obtained by radio station Cadena SER yesterday, the autonomous communities may further restrict perimeter closures and will even have the power to prohibit trips between December 23 and January 6 to visit relatives. At the moment it is unknown if the restrictions will be on regional or local travel.
