"The Mallorca Files" filming begins

| Palma |

Shooting for BBC One Daytime's crime drama series "The Mallorca Files" started on Monday at Ses Cases del Virrey, a boutique hotel on the outskirts of Inca. Scriptwriter Dan Sefton tweeted ironically: "Day One, another shoot in a hideous location."

The ten-part series centres on a clash in policing styles between a British and a German detective, played by Elen Rhys and Julian Looman. Each episode will find them solving a different crime, with locations to include the likes of Pollensa and Soller. Elen Rhys has said of her part: "Dan Sefton has written a wonderfully flawed character in Miranda, who promises to be a lot of fun. I am thrilled to be playing one half of this mismatched crime-fighting duo - especially against the beautiful backdrop of Majorca. What’s not to like?"

Filming is scheduled to take up to six months. The series will eventually be broadcast across the week from Monday to Friday on BBC One Daytime and be available on the BBC iPlayer.
