On Friday, the Palma fire service had to evacuate a family from a property after the roof collapsed. At around nine in the evening, the roof caved in, the consequence of the heavy rain. The property, an old one on calle Dega Tous, has two floors - the ground floor and a first floor.
The roof crashed into the dining room on the ground floor. The grandmother of the family was in the room at the time, but she - as with other family members - was uninjured.
The property has been sealed off and the water and electricity supplies cut off because of fears of further collapse. Technicians from the town hall will inspect the building on Monday and assist with a cleaning-up operation.
