The environmentalist association Terraferida has posted images on social media of a wedding celebration that took place on Friday at Es Trenc beach.
As can be seen in the photo, the party was in the dunes area at what is part of the Es Trenc Nature Park, a protected space. Terraferida say that two tents were put up, that a 4x4 vehicle was used to move equipment and that a drone was also flying above. The music was blaring out.
Spokesperson for the association, Jaume Adrover, says that this is not the first time that this has happened, claiming that there are weddings organisers who put on such events. Although Es Trenc now has total protected status and the power of law which declared the area a nature park, Adrover argues that there is insufficient control. There are not enough environment agents to supervise the park.
Terraferida came to prominence two summers ago when the association highlighted what was described as the "privatisation" of a beach on the island of Cabrera. Tents had been set up for the use of people who had hired a superyacht.
