A 30-year-old British holidaymaker was rushed to Son Espases Hospital in a serious condition on Tuesday morning after falling from a third floor balcony at a hotel in Magalluf. The alarm was raised at around 4am, which is when the emergency and security forces were alerted to the incident.

Members of the Guardia Civil and Calvia police were quickly on the scene and a number of ambulances and team of paramedics also rushed to the scene. According to medical and police sources, on arrival they found the 30-year-old Briton on the ground. He had no documentation and there were signs that he had either been drinking heavily or consuming some other kind of substance.

After being treated and stabilised at the scene, he was eventually admitted to intensive care at Son Espases. The Guardia Civil in Calvia are in charge of the investigation into establishing exactly what happened. However, according to witness statements, he had been with a group of five friends in one of the hotel bedrooms and went out on to the balcony. One of the five has said that he tried to grab the victim but was unable to prevent him from falling.

This is the second incident of this kind in Magalluf over the past week. Last Friday a 19-year-old girl fell six floors to her death in Magalluf.
