The Soller Tunnel was closed for a time yesterday (Monday) when a bus broke down inside the tunnel.
A Palma-Puerto Soller Line 211 bus broke down around 9am, which meant that the tunnel was closed for some two and a half hours. At half eleven it was opened in the Palma direction and didn't completely reopen until 12.25.
The passengers on the bus, fifty of them, were able to continue their journey on a replacement. The broken-down bus, an Iveco Tata model operated by Autocares Mallorca, is five years old and had passed the necessary inspections.
The breakdown followed last week's incident when an eleven-year-old bus on the Palma-Puerto Pollensa Line 340 caught fire and was totally burnt out.
