Another success has been notched up against the sale of drugs in Majorca. This one wasn't as the result of a coordinated operation, as with the series of raids last week that led to twelve people now being held in Palma prison; it came about because of a random police check.
The police control was on Thursday last week near to the Ocimax centre in Palma. Officers discovered seven kilograms of cocaine, one of the largest amounts seized in Majorca in recent years. The couple in the car appeared in court on Sunday, the police having taken the full time they could before bringing them in front of a judge.
The prosecutor Adrián Salazar requested detention without bail, and Judge José Castro accepted the request. When they appeared in court, around a dozen family and friends had to be ejected by security personnel. As the two were led out of the court, there were cries of "everything will be ok".
