Ángel Mesado, the manager of public relations for Airbnb Spain and Portugal, met tourism minister Biel Barceló and tourism director general Pilar Carbonell yesterday.
Mesado told the ministry that Airbnb has forwarded information to its users regarding the Balearic rentals legislation. He also said that Airbnb's legal team is preparing its "interpretation" of the legislation.
During the meeting, said to have been cordial, Carbonell stressed the fact that the ministry is continuing with procedures to ensure compliance with the law. This compliance means that properties (mainly all apartments) which are deemed to be illegal have to be removed from the website.
