A three-year-old girl was rushed to Son Espases Hospital on Sunday. She was in a critical condition after being rescued from a swimming pool in Puerto Andratx.
The Swedish child and her parents are staying at a property on the Las Cascadas development in Puerto Andratx. It would seem that around two o'clock on Sunday afternoon the girl fell accidentally into the pool. She wasn't wearing arm bands. Her mother found her unconscious, raised the alarm and started applying first aid. The child did not have a pulse.
Local police were soon on the scene and they continued to try and resuscitate the child before emergency medics arrived. She was treated inside the chalet and the ambulance and her condition was stabilised. At Son Espases, assessments were being made of any possible physical damage because of the time she was unconscious in the water.
The Guardia Civil and local police have been talking to the family in order to establish the facts behind the accident.
