Major drugs bust in Majorca and on the mainland

The Guardia Cicvil, the National Police and the Palma Customs authority have arrested the suspected leader of a drug smuggling gang which was dedicated to shipping the narcotics to various points on the mainland Spain.
According to the police, a 29-year-old Colombian, who was in police custody last night, would smuggle the drugs to and from the mainland hidden inside vehicles. Operation ‘Azafran and Rio Negro’ was mounted over a year ago and two properties on the mainland in Castellon were raided yesterday. Over half a kilo of cocaine was found, two precision scales, various quantities of cash as well as various documents which the police consider important for their investigation. In total, 12 people, the majority Colombian, have been arrested as part of the operation and further arrests are not being ruled out.
