A 43-year-old woman who suffered from morbid obesity died yesterday after being rescued from her home in Inca. The emergency began on Thursday night at 22.45 when she suffered an asthma attack at her home which she was unable to leave due to her condition.
Inca firefighters were called to the scene along with 061 SAMU paramedics. After assessing the situation, fire chiefs ruled out lifting the victim out of the windows of the second floor flat because they were too small. Moving her down the stairs was also not possible because the stairwell was too narrow.
Firefighters decided to wait for first light in order to return to the scene with a crane which lifted her from the terrace. At 08.20 she was taken to hospital but died on the way to Son Llatzer Hospital.
