Ryanair yesterday unveiled their plans for its hub at Palma airport and the carrier will be increasing the number of passengers 10 percent by operating  four new routes out of the Majorcan capital and increasing frequencies to other destinations. The new routes are Newcastle, Rome, Frankfurt and Breslavia, while flights will be increased on routes to the likes of Manchester and Stockholm.

Head of sales and marketing Spain, Jose Espartero, said in Palma yesterday that Ryanair aims to carry four million passengers in and out of Palma next year, 300,000 or ten percent more than this year.

The airline is going to be operating a total of 348 flights in and out of Palma next year. Espartero denied that Ryanair was muscling in on the slots vacated by Air Berlin. He explained that the airline considers Majorca the ideal location for sustainable and continual growth.

Next year, the carrier with have a 540 airline strong fleet and that destinations in North Africa and Turkey are still off the radar because they are “too complicated.”
