The regional government has announced that there will be a 4.5 million public-private investment in Puerto Soller. This will be spent on a building for fishermen and three other buildings. In addition, 200,000 euros are to be spent on lighting. Ports de les Illes Balears, the regional ports administration, will be spending 1.2 million, while the remainder will be from Nuevos Puertos Deportivos, the company which has the concession for the private area of the port: its concession has been renegotiated by the government.

The minister for land, Marc Pons, says that the project will involve the recuperation of more than 4,000 square metres for public use and will include a landscaped car park and the fishermen's building, something which has been asked for since 2005. All work is expected to be finished by the end of next year or the start of 2018.

The fishermen's building will combine a market with spaces for storing ice and nets as well as an office, changing rooms and bathrooms. It will cost approximately one million euros and should take four months to complete once formalities have been taken care of.
