Real Mallorca 0 - Reus 1
Mallorca's first match of the season in what is now the oddly named Liga 123 but which is still the second division. Opponents Reus had never reached such exalted heights in their 107-year history. A nosebleed waiting to happen for them, therefore, and an easy three points for American-influenced Mallorca, once more eyeing up the bigger stages of La Liga?

Following a minute's silence to remember Joao Havelange, the season was up and running, with Adrian Colunga bright and having his best chance with a header from Lago's cross after 36 minutes. Brandon also went close on two occasions, but the first half was a story familiar to last season - a failure to convert chances. For Reus, García was shown red for a second bookable offence for dangerous play just after the half-hour mark.

Into the second period, and Colunga had another pop before the ref evened things up by giving Moutinho his marching orders after a second yellow. Amidst the bookings and substitutions, Oriol made one of Mallorca's better opportunities (not that there had been an abundance) with some fifteen minutes left. Reus, who hadn't exactly been progressive all match, suddenly sparked into life without demanding a great deal of Santamaria. Until, that is, Benito put the away side ahead in the final minute.

Nosebleed there wasn't.
