The rider of a motorbike from which a 19-year-old youth fell and was killed on Sunday morning was 17 years old and almost three times over the permitted alcohol limit. It has been suggested that he didn't have a licence, but the Guardia Civil have not confirmed this.

The incident occurred around 06.15 on Sunday on the Llucmajor motorway near exit 12. Emergency services received a call from the rider informing them that he had "lost" his companion along the road. Guardia Civil officers searched the road and found the youth lying in the middle of it. The paramedic service was soon on the scene but he was pronounced dead.

Officers from Trafico have established that the bike, a Yahama 125, struck a guard rail. The rider, seemingly unaware that this caused his companion to fall off, continued for some three kilometres before realising what had happened.
