The declaration of the Es Trenc Nature Park will, says the regional government, result in significant investment for the town of Campos. Its announcement will, on the one hand, compensate the municipality for maintaining the unspoiled nature of its coast and, on the other, seek social peace and consensus among those affected.

This, at any rate, is what President Armengol had to say during an official visit to Campos, during which the mayor, the Partido Popular's Sebastià Sagreras, referred to historical issues that the municipality faces.

The mayor stressed the need for the nature park to be agreed through maximum consensus. He called on the president to speed up the process for solving problems with car parking for and road access to Es Trenc. "We cannot let there be a repeat of last summer when the chaos led to financial losses because of the loss of parking areas." Armengol said that the government is still studying options for this summer.

The president went on to say that Es Trenc is an emblematic area not just for Majorca but on a European level. Consequently, there is a commitment to seek maximum consensus in respect of its management.

Following her meeting with the mayor, she visited Es Trenc beach along with environment minister, Vicenç Vidal, and the president of the Council of Majorca, Miquel Ensenyat.
