A British man has been arrested in Palma by the National Police and charged with the usurping of a public function, specifically that he was looking to pass himself off as an Interpol agent from the United Kingdom with the intention of apparently carrying out certain investigations in Majorca.
The man was intervened and found to have defence weapons (extendable baton for instance), gas sprays, handcuffs and various items of clothing with an Interpol logo. The investigation was started because of the possibility of there being intent to engage in criminal activity or pose a risk from the carrying of weapons.
An Interpol agent has to belong to a police force in any other countries in the network. The arrested Briton remains in custody.
