Two Guardia Civil officers who were mounting a routine traffic control in Sant Llorenç on 1 February came to the aid of a 73-year-old German tourist who had suffered a heart attack. The officers were alerted by the sounding of a horn some thirty metres from the control point. When they went to investigate, they found the man leaning back and his wife trying to move him. One of the officers, Juanmi Rubio, explains that the man was pale, had no pulse, had stopped breathing and had swallowed his tongue. They performed resuscitation for some seventeen minutes, assisted by a nurse who was passing by. The man was revived and an ambulance took him to the hospital in Manacor.
