Rain doesn't dampen Carnival spirits

During a Majorcan winter with hardly any rain, it has seemed as if the weather gods have nonetheless attempted to rain on the parades and only on the parades. There was rain for the Three Kings' parades in January and there was rain yesterday as Palma took to the streets for its Carnival parade (most of the parades across Majorca having taken place on Saturday).

Some thirty floats took part as well as almost forty other groups for a parade that lasted around two hours and took in the main streets of the city centre, such as Jaume III and the Born. One of the winners was the float "Candyland", considered to have been the most original.
