It is a rare event that requires a combination of clear skies and so absence of clouds as well as low light around dawn in Barcelona, but around this time of the year the mountains of Majorca, i.e. the Tramuntana, can be seen from over 200 kilometres away.
Alfons Puertas of the Fabra Observatory in Barcelona took this photo on Friday and posted it to Twitter.
It's a photo that wouldn't be possible today (Sunday). There is rain and cloud as well as strong winds.
