Palma was full of demonic activity last night as the fiery climax to the city's Sant Sebastià fiestas brought demons' gangs, dragons and drummers onto the streets. At ten o'clock the bells rang out at the church of Sant Creu and marked the start of the correfoc fire-run that went from the Plaça Porta de Santa Catalina to Plaça Joan Carles I at the top of the Born avenue. Some 7,500 spectators watched the spectacular, which had adopted a new route this year. The fire-night end to the fiestas is not quite as lavish as it once was. Crisis was instrumental in ending the grand fireworks' display that used to be a feature.
