It was quite a cold night but it was also fine, and so thousands took to the squares of Palma for the big Sant Sebastià party. Eight squares in all featured music from jazz to heavy metal to traditional Majorcan. There were also numerous bonfires with 284 barbecues (torradas), including twelve dedicated to vegans: these weren't particularly popular, or so it seemed. Giants, caparrot bigheads, xeremier bagpipers, batucada drummers were all in attedance, as was the dragon - Drac de Na Coca - seen here lighting the bonfire in the Plaça Major.
There is a further concert this evening in the Plaça Espanya, with Spanish Celtic rock band, Celtas Cortos. The grand demons' correfoc fire-run is on Saturday, starting at 10pm from the Plaça Porta Santa Catalina and ending in the Plaça Joan Carles I (top of the Born).
