The force was with Palma on Friday night because any self-respecting follower of the Star Wars saga was able to see the documentary, I Am Your Father, for the first time in Majorca.
Directed by Majorcan Toni Bestard and Marcos Cabotà, it had its premiere at Ocimax. Prior to the film, which was produced with the cooperation of Nova Televisió, the audio-visual wing of the Grup Serra, which publishes the Bulletin, the cinema was full of imperial soldiers from the Association of Friends of Science Fiction, while the soundtrack of Star Wars was performed by the Bunyola Band of Music. Furthermore, those attending were able to take part in a discussion with the two directors after the film.
Of the premiere on the island, Toni Bestard said “everybody liked it and enjoyed it.”
“It made the same connection that it has in other places (where it has been shown). The term ‘documentary’ should not put anyone off who has not seen it. It will not be like watching one on the TV. I Am Your Father is a very human film which above all is the story of one man, British actor David Prowse who played Darth Vader in the original trilogy.”
