What would make you feel even more at home in Majorca? How about the latest Hollywood movies in English, free parking and Primark? All this and more is what the new Fan Shopping Centre is promising. It is currently under construction next to the Carrefour supermarket just off the airport motorway.
Dolores Bañon, the director of promotion and development for Carrefour Property España says that if they could open seven days a week they would do so. This massive commercial complex will be opened this coming June with plenty of flagship stores ranging from Media Markt, Primark and C&A to many fast-food outlets and other stores.
It is aimed at both the domestic market and visiting tourists, and Bañon believes that it will also help Majorca attract more low-season visitors because so-called shopping tourism is continuing to grow.
Millions of euros are being spent on Fan, and it will create thousands of new jobs both directly and indirectly.
"The Balearics will never have seen so many top brands under the same roof," she said. It will also not just be a question of shopping. The multi-screen cinema complex will be showing all the latest releases with special emphasis on films in their original version. This will mean that we will soon be spoilt for choice when it comes to movies in English.
Fan is also exceptionally proud that they have managed to attract Primark to the island after taking the mainland by storm. In some ways the centre is offering a shopping revolution, and it is anticipating some 12 million visits per annum to its 120 establishments, catered for by 2,500 parking places.
