One of Majorca’s retail associations, Afedeco, is in favour of terraces staying on Palma’s Born avenue and also of boosting similar commercial activities because of the contributions that can be made to the social and economic revitalisation of the city. The association is, therefore, lending its support to the campaign to keep the Born terraces that is being led by the Majorca Restaurants’ Association.
Afedeco is calling on the town hall to reconsider any action which might prove detrimental to the terraces continuing along the Born or other similar arrangements elsewhere in the city. Prohibition, believes the association, would be “a serious miscalculation and an irreparable error.” It points to the otherwise beneficial results in terms of social impact, revitalisation, greater influx of residents and tourists, and for bars, restaurants and shops.
