The piano teacher who taught Kate Middleton, sister Pippa, brother James and mother Carole to play the piano, Daniel Nicholls, is bringing the choir Enharmonic, which he formed with his wife Sandra, to Majorca to give three free concerts.

The choir from the Middleton’s family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire is some 40 strong with members ranging from the age of 16 to 80, but, as Daniel told the Bulletin today, around 24 choristers will be coming out to Majorca although the whole party is going to be 40 strong.

Each of the three concerts is going to be an hour long with no intervals and will address a wide range of music. “We like to mix up the music we sing but also inject some fun, plus the tour will feature the world premiere of a new song I have composed, so we’ll have to see how that goes down,” he added.

“We’re a very eclectic group of singers and we embrace all musical styles and are happy to sing Mozart or Queen as long as it is well written. We’ll be singing an arrangement of Bridge over Troubled Water, for example, and we will also be singing a number of pieces in remembrance of those who died in World War One,” Daniel explained.

The first free concert is this Friday evening at 7pm at Esporles Town Hall. “We are going to be mixing with local choirs and in Esporles we are going to be accompanied by the Esporles Choir. On Saturday evening at 7pm, we shall be singing mass in Palma cathedral, which we are all looking forward to, especially me, having never been to the island before. And finally, we end the tour on Sunday night in the Monestir de la Real in Palma and we shall be accompanied by traditional Majorcan ball de bot dancers.

“We’ve performed all over the world but the idea of Majorca came about because one of our bass singers was brought up on the island and he and his wife know Majorca extremely well - in fact it has been his wife who has organised the whole tour. And like I say, the concerts are fun and full of surprises, so I do hope people come along.”
