At last: winter tourism starts to take off again

Jet2 will be bringing thousands of British winter tourists to Majorca.

Jet2 Holidays has selected Palma as one of five Spanish cities that it will include as a city-break destination as part of a new travel product specialising in urban tourism. Jet2, which has already demonstrated its commitment to boosting winter tourism from Britain to Majorca, will be making more than 10,000 new flight places available during off-season months and, in so doing, will assist in lengthening Palma’s tourist season.

Pedro Homar, the director of the Palma de Mallorca 365 Tourism Foundation, explains that from February the tour operator will be running flights from Leeds-Bradford, Manchester and Edinburgh to Palma and, in giving Jet2 its fullest support, he and staff from the foundation’s promotion department have been to the Jet2 headquarters in Leeds in order to hold meetings with company executives and to make presentations to call-centre customer service personnel.

Training sessions have therefore been conducted with small groups of Jet2 staff to explain in a highly personalised manner the attractions and strengths of Palma as a city-break destination. Homar says that the foundation has wanted to “promote Palma to the staff in the most appealing way in order to help them sell the city 365 days a year, as it is these personnel who know most and at first hand the needs and demands of the end consumer.”
