The Spanish airports’ network has registered its busiest ever August, the volume of passengers having increased by almost 5% to over 24 million, which consisted of 17.3 million international travellers (a rise of 3.9%): the increase in domestic travellers was one of 7%.
The three Balearic airports had their best ever August, though growth at Palma’s Son Sant Joan was relatively modest.
It was up to 3.7 million passengers, a rise of 0.9%, while Ibiza registered 1.3 million (+2.3%) and Minorca 630,522 passengers, which represented an increase of 5.5%.
Palma was the third busiest Spanish airport through the whole of August, with Madrid having headed the list with 4.5 million passengers followed by Barcelona El-Prat with 4.3 million. Palma was likewise in third place in terms of flights.
