The technical committee of the Balearic Environment Commission has said that it considers excessive the project to create 200 new mooring buoys in the bay of Pollensa. Concerned about their environmental impact, the commission has recommended that there be a full impact assessment.

The committee has stated that the assessment "would need to be able to justify the scale of the project in terms of moorings' requirements in Pollensa bay, taking particular account of other projects in the vicinity, such as the government's ecological moorings, the marina and the plan for its expansion that is currently being processed".

The plan to create more moorings is one that is being pushed by the yacht club as a means of controlling illegal anchoring in the bay.
