A pine tree in Puerto Pollensa's church square (Plaça Miquel Capllonch) yesterday evening fell onto tables at the terrace of the Bar Cultural. No one was injured by the fall which was caused not by wind but apparently by the tree's roots no longer being able to take the strain of growth. Immediately prior to the tree falling, the number of needles dropping had been unusually high. It was realised that the tree was about to come down and so the tables at the bar were cleared. A fire crew later came to cut the tree and make good the area.
