Summer is starting with temperatures over 30 degrees and cloudless skies in many parts of Spain, though AEMET, the national meteorological agency, has issued a warning of storms in parts of Catalonia and Aragon. Temperatures are on the rise in the Mediterranean area, including the Balearics, but are falling slightly in the west of Andalusia and in the Canary Islands. Night-time temperatures are expected to rise in most parts.
The highest daytime temperatures - 36 degrees - are being forecast for Granada and Cordoba in Andalusia, Ourense in the north-western region of Galicia and in Badajoz in Extremadura, right by the Portuguese border.
