Looking at British politics from the safety of Majorca you get the impression that things are not all well. The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) is third in the opinion polls well ahead of the poor old Liberal Democrats, who are now a distant fourth. Amazing that UKIP, a party which just believes Britain should leave the European Union without offering any real policies can command such support in Britain. And then in Scotland, a party which believes that Scotland should abandon the United Kingdom is set to win all the parliamentary seats in the country. Amazing. This could be a victory for the “leaving parties” one who wants to leave the European Union and the other which wants to leave the United Kingdom. And then you have the Tories. Eton-educated and from elite backgrounds some have said that they are a throwback to a by-gone era. They may have the measure of the economy but they are pretty poor on everything alse. And then there is the Labour Party. Led by a man who should never have got the job Labour are a shadow of their former selves. If they suffer a meltdown in Scotland then they only have themselves to blame. Yes, thank goodness I live in Majorca! This general election is obviously very important and could decide the make-up of Britain for years to come. Imagine if Britain elects to leave the European Union and then Scotland elects to leave the United Kingdom.Yes, you almost have to pinch yourself!
