Majorca is currently enjoying a very early start to summer with temperatures this week more common for the months of July and August.
Sunday was particularly hot, especially in the north east of the island with maximum temperatures in Pollensa reaching 34.2ºC. In Colonia de Sant Pere, the high was 33.6ºC and, spokesperson for the Balearic Meteorological Office, Bernat Amengual, said yesterday that, over the past few days, maximum temperatures have, on average, been between 10ºC and 12ºC higher than usual for this time year when average maximum temporaries are normally a more comfortable 23ºC.
