Not a weekend goes by at the moment without Palma appearing in the travel section of one of the London broadsheet newspapers. Our capital is in the headlines for all the right reasons and the British media can´t get enough of it’s fantastic state of affairs. All the money which has been invested in Palma over the years, mostly by private enterprise, is starting to pay a healthy dividend. From new boutique hotels to quality shops and restaurants, Palma is rapidly becoming one of the most sought after places in Spain. But, we go back to the usual question about flights. Hotels in the city remain open throughout the year but their owners are furious at the lack of air communications between Palma and the major European airports during the winter months. They say that Palma is missing a golden opportunity. Now the city council say that they are in talks with the major airlines over more winter flights. But we need action now if we want to get the ball rolling in time for next winter. Now, Iknow that we are in the middle of an election campaign, but this should be no excuse. More winter tourists will help encourage more investment and at the same time boost the earnings of many local businesses. It is as simple as that. I can´t see why it is so complicated. We have a city which everyone wants to visit but unfortunately, they can´t get here. Come on local authorities this is a one in a lifetime opportunity, act now because we could miss out.
