The Balearic government yesterday approved a new law which will make it obligatory for all dogs aged over three months to have the rabies vaccine.
Government spokesperson, Nuria Riera, explained yesterday that the move comes as part of the government’s over all pet and animal control programme.
Riera also said that the vaccine is also recommended for cats, especially those who have access to the exterior. The Balearics is a rabies free area but the government is worried because of its close proximity and connections with North African and Eastern Europe.
