Documentary and book on the life of foreigners in Cala Rajada to be presented this month

Cala Rajada is getting ready for one of the most important days in its recent history when on 29 April at 8p.m the book and documentary  El temps s’esmicola  is officially released and presented at the local Theatre.
Both contain invaluable information about the life of Cala Rajada’s residents in the early 1930’s, most of them foreigners, Germans in their majority.
Many were writers, painters and intellectuals looking for a safe place to establish due to the delicate political situation in their country of origin.
Cala Rajada offered them just that and now, over 70 years later and much thanks to the research conducted by a team of local and international researchers, it’s possible to “understand how this ‘foreign colony’ lived at that time”.
Antoni Capella, who directed the documentary wrote in the book’s prologue: “Majorca offered all the conditions to become a safe haven. In a time of war, a large contingent of Germans started to arrive on the island.
