The central government delegate to the Balearics, Teresa Palmer, will today chair a meeting of the Local Security Board in Calvia.
The meeting is due to be held on at Galatxo estate and will be chaired by the outgoing Partido Popular Mayor of Calvia, Manu Onieva.
Recently, Calvia Council unanimously passed a series of new local bye laws aimed at cracking down on antisocial behaviour and enforcing existing security laws this summer.
Tough new rules and regulations are going to come into force on 1 May making pub crawls virtually impossible to organise while drinking alcohol in the street, for example, will be prohibited between midnight and 8a.m.
And, extra police are going to deployed to hot spot areas such as Magalluf this summer with a zero tolerance mandate after the highly negative attention the resort attracted in the global press last year forced lading tour operators to call on the local council to take serious action and start fining and closing establishments which fall foul of the law.
