This week, Woman’s Own includes a travel feature on Palma and today, the Guardian follows suit.

Palma.—Certainly, the Sunday Times’s  recent decision to declare  Palma as the ‘Best City in the World to Live’ has significantly boosted Palma’s global image, but it would appear that the efforts which have been made by Palma City Council and the 365 Foundation over the past four years, have paid dividend and that Palma is now being seriously considered as a mature weekend and city break destination.
Palma City Councillor for Tourism Alvaro Gijon, told the Bulletin just a few weeks ago that a great deal of effort has gone into making Palma  a more people friendly city.
“We relaxed commercial opening hours in the city centre so shops can be open  365 and on the back of that restaurants, bars, museums etc.., have followed suit and we also paved the way for the cafe culture boom with large comfortable open terraces now dotted all over the centre. “What is more, we also relaxed the planning rules regarding the renovation of the capital’s historic buildings and now we are enjoying a boom of excellent boutique hotels which are proving extremely popular,” Gijon said.
