Baleares are second top yacht charter location

While not all the shackles have been taken off the nautical industry, those that have over the pat 18 months are proving to pay dividend.
The National Association of Nautical Businesses (Anen) reported yesterday that the charter industry this year has so far been much more robust than of previous years and the Balearic sector has been the second busiest inSpain. In fact, during the first quarter of this year, the charter industry has seen the number of boats being hired increase by 32.31 percent.
In total, 86 recreational yachts have been chartered in the Balearics this year accounting for an 11 percent share of the national market, second only to Catalonia.
At a national level, the charter market enjoyed 24 per cent growth during the first quarter  with Barcelona, the Balearics and Malaga dominating the market after a slow start to the year, primarily because of the weather.
A spokesperson for Anen said that the figures not only show that the charter market is moving again, but that people, are feeling more confident to start investing in their vessels again and putting them up for charter.
