Hugh Laurie and Olivia Coleman to shoot BBC series in Majorca

British screen and television icon Hugh Laurie is going to be filming a new six-part BBC1 series here in Majorca  with an all-star cast of award-winning actors and actresses. Filming has already begin on the adaptation of John le Carré’s The Night Manager in Switzerland, on the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps, but the bulk of the series is to be filmed on the island and locations are currently being scouted and it is understood that Palma Pictures will be facilitating the production being made by the BBC and The Ink Factory for UK and American markets.
Along with Tom Hiddleston and Laurie, Rev stars Olivia Colman and Tom Hollander will reunite for the BBC/AMC co-production.
Both Hiddleston, star of The Avengers, Thor and War Horse,  and Laurie were  clearly very taken with their Alpine setting and  tweeted pictures of the mountain as filming gets underway.
The miniseries  follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston), who is recruited by an intelligence operative named Burr (Colman) to navigate the shadowy recesses of Whitehall and Washington where an unholy alliance operates between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade.
To infiltrate the inner circle of lethal arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie), which includes girlfriend Jed (Debicki) and an associate named Corcoran (Hollander), Pine must himself become a criminal.
Colman is best known  for her starring role in Broadchurch alongside David Tennant.
Hollander co-created and starred in BBC Two’s  Rev, currently streaming on Hulu, and also appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
Debicki was previously seen in  The Great Gatsby and has upcoming roles in Everest and  The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Academy Award-winning director Susanne Bier, who won her Oscar for In A Better World,is at the  helm of the project, which is due to  broadcast by AMCin the United States in 2016.
Executive producers are Stephen Cornwell and Simon Cornwell for The Ink Factory, Stephen Garrett, David Farr, and Polly Hill for the BBC.
The series was commissioned for BBC One by Charlotte Moore and Ben Stephenson, and Joel Stillerman and Kristin Jones for AMC.
