Full marks to the organisers of today´s Saint Patrick´s Day event in Santa Ponsa, the only low point could be the weather with rain being forecast but that is obviously out of their hands. I know that Calvia Councillor, Angie Guerrero and her team have been working long and hard to make this event a big success, after the “disappointment” of last year. The good news is that the Saint Patrick´s celebration in Santa Ponsa has consolidated itself into a yearly event and it has a bright future. It is only right that a resort, which is so popular with Irish tourists, should mark Saint Patrick´s Day in style. It is also a community event, bringing people of all nationalities together. Perhaps the Calvia Council might consider one day holding a St. George´s Day celebration in Palmanova or even Magalluf. These sort of events are good for the resorts and also act as a curtain raiser for the start of the summer season. But well done to everyone involved today, it should be a big success.
