Editorial: Well done ESRA

|

It was a great pleasure to join the English Speaking Residents Association (ESRA)at their annual general meeting in Cala Ratjada yesterday. The meeting not only underlined the important role which ESRAcontinues to play in the English speaking community but also showed that they have a very active membership which are full of new ideas for the future. ESRAelected a new Chairman yesterday, David Whitney, who takes over from Michael Booker who has led ESRAfor the last seven years. Bulletin readers will know David Whitney because he contributes regular articles on motoring to the newspaper. David has big plans for the future and yesterday he announced that he wants to hold more island-wide events. His right-hand lady is none other than Dorothy Loeffler, a past Chairman of ESRA and also a regular Bulletin contributor since 1979. Also, attending the AGMyesterday was the British Vice Consul for the Balearics Gillian Brion and Calvia councillor Angie Guerrero. Both paid tribute to ESRAfor all their hard work for the English speaking community. Like everyone else Ifelt quite at home with ESRAyesterday...Iattended my first meeting when I was a fifteen year old school boy (anything to escape studying for my O´Levels!). So Iwould like to wish David Whitney the best of luck in his new venture as Chairman and also pay tribute to Michael Booker for his dedication over the last seven years. Well done ESRA and the best of success for the future.
