Following years of recession in Majorca with hundreds of residents drifting away from the capital in search of a better life, times are changing and Palma is once again becoming the business centre of the island.Statistics revealed yesterday that last year 666 residents from different Balearic municipalities changed their residence and registered with Palma Council.
The figures represent 20 percent more than the previous year and marks a change in pattern from previous years.
The capital is now on its way to financial recovery and the report suggests the sudden influx of new residents is due to professional reasons, a theory backed by a senior official from Palma city Council.
“Palma is making progress and that is attracting residents from other coastal areas to the capital for employment reasons,” Tomas Llado said.
