For the first time since the beginning of the recession in Spain, the number of new houses being built in the Balearics went up last year, according to reports revealed yesterday by the Balearic Architect College.
News could be seen as the ideal situation for the sector if not for the fact Balearic figures only went up due to the number of new houses being built in Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera, as in Majorca figures actually slumped by almost 11 percent.
The report also showed that this situation could be considered as normal since both periods of recession and growth tend to reach the smaller islands first.
