Passengers using the train and metro services from Friday onwards will have to go through new turnstiles, one of the measures transport authorities have taken to reduce fraud on Majorca’s transport system.The turnstiles have been installed in every station on the island, and so have hundreds of new automatic ticket vending machines, which will also be ready to use from Friday.
Some stations already had turnstiles installed, even though they remained opened all the time, a situation several passengers took advantage of to travel for free.
That “loophole” is now set to be fixed, with the authorities assuring that from this week onwards everyone will have to go through the gates, including citizens with a disability.
