Record snow fall this month

The 4 February snowstorm in the Tramuntana mountaina broke all records in terms of snow levels above the 800 metre height mark.
Reports from different observatories in the region confirmed that the snowfall was not particularly strong and was within the usual amount registered, but that levels registered on the higher peaks were possibly one of the most “heaviest” of  the past few years.
In some areas of the Puig Major there were “up to three metres of snow,“ according to the Met. .
Alberto Darder, Geographer from one of the local weather observation  centres, said yesterday that the 80 to 85 cm of snow registered in the higher peaks was one of the heaviest snow falls in the   past 30 years.
