The Balearics were the most popular destination for tourists looking to rent short term accommodation, according to the rental property website Niumba.
In total over 120,000 tourists booked self catering accommodation last year in the region, with the website managing 33,000 of them.
Over three million enquiries were made and the money generated from all the bookings surpassed the 15 million euros mark.
Some 53 percent of the bookings were made for the months of July and August, representing 77 percent of the total income made with short term accommodation rentals. At the opposite end of the scale was January, the quietest month of the year.
Last January was also a fairly quiet month in terms of bookings in advance, only 0.6 percent.
